Being Thankful.....

Some people are always grumbling
because roses have thorns,
I am thankful that thorns have roses.
Alphonse Karr

How many of us get caught up in everyday life an forget to count our blessings? What's most important to us? What has been given freely? Most of us have everything we need in arm's reach. When thing's don't turn out the way we want we fuss, cry and throw our self's little pity party. I will admit I'm guilty. Instead of counting my blessing's I've counted what wasn't going right for me at the moment. Sad but true. I am one that should have been counting my blessing's along time ago instead it was all about me. I felt something was owed to me. Loosing my parent's, sister, an trying so hard to have a child then loose the baby. Not understanding, an only looking at the large view not the small.
This is a prime example of how we get caught up and we forget about the little thing's to be thankful for. It's the little thing's that count. They add up.

The unthankful heart.....discovers no mercies,
but let the thankful heart sweep through the day and,
as the magnet find the iron,
so it will find, in every hour,
some Heavenly blessings.
Henry Ward Beecher

My little blessing's that God has given me has truly added up.How can anyone say that loosing someone you love is a blessing?  Having huge looses in my life is hard yes, but now as God has opened my eyes I also see them as blessing's. You see I wouldn't be the woman I am today. I would have traveled a different path. I would have never married my husband, I would have never adopted our five amazing loving beautiful children. I wouldn't be so determined in life to live as God wants me too. All of those situation's that I felt was against me and I didn't want to be thankful became blessings. Some thing's I will never understand but that's ok. I am thankful.
I am thankful for all the little thing's that God offers to me. Butterflies, children's laughter, a rainy day. I am even thankful for day's when I miss my parent's and I cry. I am thankful for those sweet memories. In this post I am sure you understand now what I am saying. Life is short we need to live it the way God wants us too and be thankful not just for the big things but it's those little things that count the most. We take so much for granted on this earth. Count those blessings. Make those blessings count in your life. Be thankful just for another day. I know I am.

I want to thank not only my God but two sweet friends that have inspired me, encouraged me during tough times. Ms. Edna you have been such a faithful friend. Very hard to come by. I count my closest friends only with one hand. You have inspired me to not only be more creative but more in finding my own journey and loving it without no worries from what other's think.
Lori, what an inspiration you are. God is truly working through you to reach those like me. I can't express to you how much I have thought lately of your courage, faith and how you are so thankful for things even when you feel your heart is broke/hearting. I'm thankful for your friendship. You truly are a blessing on this earth.

Beautiful, and well said. I also sometimes forget to count my blessings. It worries me that even some members of my own family despise me and sorely mistreat me, and it is not easy to pray for them. But, you are right- in cases like this we must be "the bigger person" and not forget just how good our lives really are.
Thank you for your inspiration and encouragement. Blessings :)

Danice,
I understand how you feel when you have certain family that make you feel as if you don't belong. I have learned in my journey to accept things like they are. I still pray for them and love them. I walk my own path and I am much happier. God has reasons for everything. God bless you today. Life is a blessing and we have so much to be thankful for even some of the hurts that come into our lives. It makes us stronger. Thank you for visiting me today. :)
